An intimate afternoon of song with renowned Italian-Canadian operatic baritone Brett Polegato. Known for his “serious and seductive voice” (The Globe and Mail), Polegato has appeared on the world’s largest stages including Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Concertgebouw, the Opéra National de Paris, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, the Teatro Real, Roy Thomson Hall, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall.
Accompanied by City Opera’s very own artistic director Gordon Gerrard on piano, Polegato offers an exquisite selection of art song from the 20th and 21st century, including an exclusive opportunity to hear “Songs for Judith” by Canadian composer Matthew Ricketts. Written especially for him, this song cycle features poetry by beloved 20th century poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, who captivated her generation with profound, provocative and playful verse.
Taking place in a private residence, this fundraising recital brings you up close and personal with the artists as you enjoy a glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres.
You will receive the venue address after ticket purchase, as well as a tax receipt for $250 for each $300 ticket purchased and any additional funds you choose to donate. Your donation will benefit City Opera’s public programming.
